Heavy

I smoked my joint bobbing my head to the instrumental beat that my producer had just played on the speakers in the studio for me. My label wanted me to release a mixtape to keep my name relevant even though I had just released my damn album. I had five songs on the top one hundred Billboard, and I was proud of that shit. A lil’ nigga from Miami that was making a name for himself. My momma was happy as fuck that she was able to witness me living my dream. My father was a little salty that I turned down his proposition of being the head of his drug organization, but he still supported my decision.

I chose to stay in the city because some of the best producers stayed out here, and being home helped me make the best music. I had about six tracks done, and I was doing two more before I decided to go back home to Atlanta. I had been staying in Atlanta since I signed my big deal with Sony Records. I was able to buy double the land than I would’ve been able to buy if I would’ve stayed here in Miami. Being here you needed to have two incomes and a side hustle to pay ya bills. My old boy was good, so he didn’t need me to buy him a house, but I made sure to put money aside for him in case of a rainy day. The weather is always unpredictable in Miami, so you never know when you’ll have one of those.

My phone started ringing, distracting my concentration. I made sure to have my phones powered off because if someone called me and ruined my flow, then my music wouldn’t be hitting anymore, and I hated when that shit happened. I saw that it was Breeze. Breeze was the girl that I left back in Atl. I met her when I just moved up there and I was trying to adjust to being a B-list celebrity. I say B-list because back then, I was shit in the music industry. Now I had made a name for myself.
